The top one is Vietnamese BL compilation absurdest series Tien Bromance EXTRA from 2020. Hard to explain that franchise you kinda just have to watch it. But it's v odd. And no, watching the first installment will not help you understand this second one any better.

One of the greatest hidden gems of the BL genre.

El tema que me rompió en mil pedazos (no es que pase siempre). Aviso: mucho texto

Vale, yo sé que estas cosas de venir a chillar a Tumblr están muy bien, pero me tenéis que creer si os digo que me ha costado mucho sobrellevar este tema con normalidad porque omg: es una centella que te atraviesa en dos y te deja sin aliento. Soy la primera a la que abusar del angst le puede parecer cansino, pero cuando se acierta con un personaje en explotar su ira y su desencanto, salen temas como este que tengo con @gamberroymaleante, que es una absoluta animalada, no solo porque exploramos el angst militar y del abandono, sino porque hay desarrollo de personaje. Y eso, amores, es lo que hace que me quede pegada a la pantalla.

Acompañadme en este hermoso viaje que ha sido empezar de tranquis en una taberna de Villamor, con un reencuentro de lo más incómodo. Mirein, por supuesto, mostrando su lado más "simpático":

"Bueno", pienso, "el tema promete". @gamberroymaleante va a darme juego y no pienso parar hasta que estos dos se destrocen a mordiscos. ¿Cómo va a ser, si no, con un tipo como Mirein? No va a dejar, simplemente, que Jarrik esté ahí, bebiendo, tan tranquilo. Cine. Si pudiera, me sentaría con una copa de vino a ver cómo se va macerando la tragedia, pero, a estas alturas del tema, Mirein y Jarrik se lanzan pullas uno al otro de forma silenciosa: hablan de la cojera del primero y de su matrimonio. De los ligues de Jarrik en el Ejército (pero lo niega todo porque no se entera de absolutamente nada). Brindan con un "skol". Todo va bien hasta que Mirein lo jode (sorpresa para nadie):

Ah, mierda. Aquí vamos otra vez. Porque a Mirein se le da genial hacer amigos. Solo Dario es capaz de aguantarlo (bendito sea). Jarrik se pone chungo y habla a Mirein con la franqueza norteña que tanta falta le hace (pero es obvio que Mirein no cree necesitarla, porque es imbécil y un engreído):

Adivinad quién hace soltar a Mirein la primera lágrima en no sé cuántos años. Ajá. Pero que llore no tiene por qué ser algo necesariamente bueno. Así que, oye, from lost to the river. Y Mirein se lanza a despedazar a Jarrik. El colofón es lo que termina rompiéndolos, por supuesto:

Reseña de Crazy Stupid Bromance

Hola querides, aquí les doy la reseña del tercer libro de la saga Club de Lectura de Caballeros o The Bromance Book Club de Lyssa Kay Adams.

En la tercera entrega seguimos a Alexis Carlisle, la dueña del café ToeBeans y a su mejor amigo, Noah Logan, un hacker. Tanto Alexis como Noah, son personajes que hemos visto en otras entregas y que van adquiriendo más protagonismo. En este caso, tenemos una tensión entre ellos al volverse muy cercanos después de los eventos de los dos libros pasados, y volverse mejores amigos. Aunque ambos quieren más de su relación ¿Será suficiente para que piensen merecerlo?

Ok, ya puedo escucharlos decir, pero Mayo, odiaste el segundo libro ¿Porqué seguiste con la saga? Porque lector, pensé que podía mejorar la autora. Le tenía fe en el primer libro y fui recompensada con un libro bueno. Le tuve fe en el segundo libro y me decepcionó. ¿La tercera es la vencida?

Advertencia: El libro hace menciones de muerte parental, abuso verbal a menores e infidelidades.

Como esta es la tercera entrega puede que de un poco de spoilers.

Vamos a comenzar con las fortalezas de este libro:

Los grupos de apoyo. Siento que una de las fortalezas que tiene este libro es ejemplificar la importancia de tener un red de apoyo que continuamente esta para apoyarte en las buenas y en las malas. Tanto Alexis, como Noah, tienen un grupo de personas con las que pueden ir a hablar y ser confrontados con la verdad (Y vaya que lo necesitan en varias escenas).

La conexión entre Noah y Alexis, es adorable y fuerte. Para conocerse por un año, los dos logran aparentar que llevan años conociéndose. Esto hubiera sido más evidente si en el segundo libro, viéramos las primeras interacciones entre ellos dos y cómo se nota que hay química entre ambos, peros siguen siendo extraños. Mientras que en el tercero, ya vemos evidente que el año que pasó solo los fortaleció.

El desarrollo de personaje de Noah me gustó mucho. Aunque es cierto que la historia nos dice mucho y no nos enseña como Noah creció de un adolescente enojado por la temprana muerte de su padre al adulto que es ahora; Siento que si logra ilustrar su crecimiento como adulto y el valor de soltar, aprender de errores y mantenerse fiel a sus valores.

Ahora, lo que pienso fueron las áreas más débiles del libro:

La historia se volvió aburrida muy rápida. Aunque si estaba al pendiente del romance de Alexis y Noah; Adams eleva la tensión agregando temas más traumáticos que vuelven a la novela en una quimera entre seriedad y comedia, sin tener mucho éxito en que pueda sobrevivir. Otra vez, tenemos un rompimiento el tercer acto. Entiendo que les autores tienen fórmulas (Ali Hazelwood es popular por esto), pero hubiera sido innovador hacer que Alexis y Noah se mantuvieran juntos enfrentando la trama secundaria y no agregar el drama de un rompimiento (innecesario). Incluso si es para su desarrollo como personajes, pudo haber sido más creativa en esta resolución.

Solo para aclarar, Alexis vivió en pobreza, su mamá padeció y murió de cáncer; debido a las facturas del hospital, Alexis tuvo que someterse a abuso laboral y $exual por parte de su jefe y después de esto, se tiene que someter a una cirugía para salvar la vida de su padre ausente, mientras es agredida por su familia paterna en el proceso. Entiendo que no todos tenemos vidas perfectas, pero ¿Le podemos dar un descanso a Alexis? Es un personaje ficticio, podemos darle la vida que queremos. La trama (tercera) sobre las quejas de una Karen a su negocio hubiera sido una buena trama secundaria. Pero no, agrega más trauma a la pobre de Alexis. Ah, y su padre es un criminal de guerra, que es un detonante de Noah porque su padre murió en la guerra. Adams hace mucho esto, pone temas extremadamente serios y delicados para el lector, que pueden denotar experiencias desagradables, pero no pasa nada porque hay comedia y un final feliz.

Definitivamente, el personaje de Marsh fue una de los peores aspectos del libro. Ahora, si, Marsh debe de ser detestable. Pero, sin querer, la autora insinúa en varias instancias que Marsh es abusivo verbalmente con Noah desde una edad temprana y culmina con Noah siendo agredido físicamente por él. Todo esto estaría bien, si no fuera porque Noah le dice a su madre que debe perdonar a Marsh y tal vez darle una oportunidad romántica. Esto le funcionó en el libro anterior, el personaje de Hop era un misógino patético enamorado de una feminista. Él mejoró y fue recompensado (Yeii [sarcástico]). Y ella lo quiso volver a hacer con Marsh y falla épicamente al hacerlo un agresor de infancias. Detestable.

Terminemos con las cosas que disfruté personalmente.

Tengo una confesión que hacer, si aquí en el confesionario de Mayo (Sorprendente, lo sé). Soy fan de los romances entre amistades. Me encanta, me fascinan, se me hacen super tiernos. Incluso, me gustan más que enemigos a pareja (Corre a esconderse). El romance en este libro se me hizo tierno, especialmente considerando que tan rápido fue su conexión, creo que un error de la autora fue no escribirlo desde que se conocieron. Aunque considerando el segundo libro, tal vez no fue un error, sino una bendición.

Y otro aspecto que me encantó fue la carta del padre de Noah a Noah. La carta fue hermosa y de los mejores momentos del libro.

La calificación de este libro es de 2.75 estrellas. Si le quiero dar el 3, pero siento que es engañoso decirlo, como si este libro no tuviera el potencial de aburrirte y dejarlo por casi dos meses. Si les gusta el romance entre amistades y con un final feliz hacia víctimas de abuso (cualquiera por que aparentemente la autora le encanta ponerle todos a sus personajes), pueden disfrutar esta lectura.

Jamás perdonaré el estilo que le dieron en la serie de HQ💀💀Según investigué, usaron el concepto de R&B, pero de Blues no tiene nada, parece rapero (y eso no me hubiera molestado, pero su vestimenta es sencillamente horrible).

Espero que les guste la versión que le diseñe, no se casi nada del genero B&R, pero traté de darle un estilo parecido a lo que investigué, aunque me recuerda un poco a Bruno Mars jejej Aunque en el dibujo reciente olvidé dibujarle la barba de candado 😔personalmente no es de mi agrado ese tipo de barba, se le ve bien al personaje, trataré de no olvidarlo a la proxima.

En esta versión, así como modernizaron el diseño de MM, tambien modernicé al MS adaptándolo al genero del Dubstep (del cual tampoco se mucho, una disculpa), tomando como referencia principal a Skrillex. En esta version no son un enemies to lovers si no que empiezan como un bromance mas inclinado a la comedia.

911 es una serie de bomberos, no es realista obviamente, es ficción y en ficción siempre se exageran las cosas aunque hayan tomado ideas de la vida real donde pasan cosas muy locas todos los días.

Uno de los puntos fuertes de esta serie es el BROmance entre dos de sus protagonistas, Eddie Díaz y Evan "Buck" Buckley, o Buddie, como los fans han decidido llamarlos, dos hombres que empezaron su amistad con mal piel pero que poco a poco fueron convirtiéndose en mejores amigos, hasta el punto de que Buck es una figura paterna para el hijo de Eddie, Christopher.

El tema está en la ENORME química que existe entre Ryan Guzmán, que interpreta a Eddie y Oliver Stark, que da vida a Buck, una química que obviamente han traspasado a sus personajes.

Son seis temporadas esperando a que den el gran paso porque siendo sinceros interpretarían a una de las mejores parejas LGBT de la televisión, una con un apoyo brutal y también de las más bonitas, seis temporadas de tensión en las que hay situaciones de tensión brutales entre ellos y eso traspasó la pantalla gracias a esa química que existe entre ellos.

Y de repente en la Temporada 7 Buck sale del armario como bisexual, Tommy Kinard, un antiguo miembro del 118 e interpretado por Lou Ferrigno Jr, alias mi querido Rocker en SWAT, le besa, un beso que honestamente vi extraño, no me transmitió nada y en el próximo episodio tendrán una cita. Yo creo que ese es el primer paso para la relación romántica entre Eddie y Buck, y me gusta porque quiero que sea una relación que avance despacio y segura, no de una forma rápida.

¿Qué creo que podemos esperar de Buddie?

No sé cual de los actores dijo que veríamos a Buck y a Eddie más cercanos que nunca y creo que puede ser una pista, obviamente no pueden revelar lo que pasará pero si tuviera que decir una teoría tengo el presentimiento de que en un primer lugar la serie va a llegar a la Temporada 10 y que esa será la última temporada (espero que no, aunque prefiero un final bueno que no alargar la serie y darle un final malo). También que Buddie se resolverá al final del último episodio de la Temporada 7 y que se empezará a desarrollar ya en la Temporada 8 donde ya tendremos una pareja establecida y hasta el final de la serie.

Veremos lo que nos depara el resto de temporada, lo que está claro es que Buddie es muy real.

911 is a firefighters tv show, it is obviously not realistic, it is fiction and in fiction things are always exaggerated even though they have taken ideas from real life where very crazy things happen every day.

One of the strong points of this series is the BROmance between two of its protagonists, Eddie Díaz and Evan "Buck" Buckley, or Buddie, as fans have decided to call them, two men who began their friendship in a bad and antagonist way, but they became best friends, to the point that Buck is a father figure to Eddie's son, Christopher, and he is in Eddie's will.

The issue is the HUGE chemistry that exists between Ryan Guzman, who plays Eddie, and Oliver Stark, who plays Buck, a chemistry that they have obviously transferred to their characters.

And what happens? You imagine them as a couple that goes from being a couple of friends to a couple that is something more, feelings that you sense are there and that you want to come true, going from BROmance to ROmance, they are very loved and the proof is in the amount of fanfiction, more than 23,000, that there are on the Archive of Your Own or AO3 website.

There are six seasons waiting for them to take the big step because to be honest they would play one of the best LGBT couples on television, one with brutal support and also one of the most beautiful, six seasons of tension in which there are brutal situations of unresolved tension between them and that crossed the screen thanks to that chemistry that exists between them.

And suddenly in Season 7 Buck comes out as bisexual, Tommy Kinard, a former member of 118 and played by Lou Ferrigno Jr, aka my dear Rocker in SWAT, kisses him (btw I don't feel anything with this kiss), and in the next episode they go on a date. We know Lou Ferrigno will be only un several episodes, so I think that is the first step for the romantic relationship between Eddie and Buck, and I like it because I want it to be a relationship that moves slowly and safe, not rushing.

What do I think we can expect from Buddie?

I don't know which of the actors said that we would see Buck and Eddie closer than ever and I think it could be a clue, obviously they can't reveal what will happen but if I had to say a theory I have a feeling that in the first place the series It's going to reach Season 10 and that will be the last season (I hope not, although I prefer a good ending to not lengthening the series and giving it a bad ending). Also that Buddie will be resolved at the end of the last episode of Season 7 and that it will begin to develop in Season 8 where we will have an established couple until the end of the series.

We'll see what the rest of the season has in store, what's clear is that Buddie is very real.

A question for you because you seem like one of those people who has watched everything: how did you get started watching bl, and what are your ultimate favorite shows?

Double-barrelled! I'm honoured.

How did I get into BL?

The short answer is that ~2016 the YouTube algorithm served me up Lovesick and I immediately went EXCUSE ME WHAT IS THIS and looked up everything else available and watched literally everything I could get my hands on (which at the time was easy because there was only a handful compared to today, but it still felt like a wealth of content to enjoy).

The longer answer is that I used to be really involved in GL (I was the secretary at the first Yuricon in North America in 2002 or 2003) and then BL manga fandom (was in a scanlation group for awhile) through ~2006? so its extra hilarious that this wasn't my route in; I apparently took a break right before they started making live action versions in Japan. But when I got into Thai BL it was fun rediscovering these tropes in a new medium and through the lens of a new-to-me culture, noticing how they differed and how the genre had matured (and how it hadn't), and on catching up on the stuff out of Japan, seeing some of the manga I read over a decade ago come to life! So I mention this history because it's definitely a part of why I stayed (and probably why the algorithm found me relatively quickly).

I only started tracking things in a spreadsheet in 2020 (and it's not nearly as comprehensive or useful as @absolutebl 's), but I did try to backfill the highlights of what I've seen and I have over 550 rows on there, fwiw. I'm a completionist so I do try to watch everything, though that's getting more and more impossible these days.

Creo que puedo entender bien si te a dejado de gustar el Tomco, me he encontrado bastantes comentarios dónde personas discuten si es buena idea realmente unir a ambos por el horrible marco de las últimas temporadas y el desarrollo de Tom así que después de leer eso y encontrarles sentido es normal quedarse en un limbo de si realmente gustar el ship o dejarlo de lado

Si, mi mayor problema con tomco es debido a Marco, no puedo disfrutar el ship porque todo el tiempo siento que Marco tiene una estaca clavada en la espalda de Tom. Honestamente no me parece raro que la gente le guste mucho esa pareja, porque al final terminó siendo de lo mejorsito de ships en la serie ✨ (en cuestión de parejas pdorras adolescentes) pero debido a eso siento que el tomco está muuuyy sobrevalorado 😬😔 hay mejores bromances la verdad y por eso también como que le perdí el interés. Una comedia traída por Brownie con la que te sentirás identificado o simplemente te sacará una que otra risa. Deleitate con un bromance bien chingon lleno de referencias y momentos hilarantes leyendo este manhua. El dúo de amigos solo necesita 1 capítulo para convencerte, y si no, nos vemos afuera del metro tacubaya ✊. Pero en serio, entre más avanzas mejor se pone. Lo bueno es que sigue en emisión.

Me parece que tiene una traducción oficial al inglés o si no me lo estoy imaginando, por el momento yo no me he encontrado una versión oficial en español y los métodos de compra son muy complicados. Apoyarías mucho al autor si tú conoces un medio legal por el cuál comprarlo (aunque sea en chino) y cuál es la metodología.

I stopped at things I'd rated lower that a 5 partly because I can't remember those ones intentionally and this isn't a trope I track so my memory is involved with this process.
